I hated smelly gyms, exercising and getting all sweaty. OMG! Dare to Be Fit change all that for me!

Hi, I am Juile age 46.  I never like working out, getting all sweaty and I don't like gyms.  But since I became a member of Dare to Be Fit, all that has changed.  I am no longer on blood pressure medication.  I look and feel more energic and trim.  People are comlimenting me all the time on how much I have changed.  I smile a lot more because I feel so good.  Coach discovered the 'gym rat' in me and I am proud to say that I am in the best shape ever at 46 years old.  If you are serious about exercise and healthy choices, then Coach, Ray and Ty will lead you every step of the way.  Dare to Be Fit is like my very own personal training club.

Thanks for keeping me smiling!

Home, Sick Home

Could something in your home be the reason you’re sick?

When you’re sick there’s only one place you want to be––home. But what if it’s home that’s making you sick? Allergies, asthma, sinusitis, headaches, and even cancer can be traced to things in your home.
You want your home to be a safe place for you and your loved ones to live, but toxins can hide in your walls, water, or air. To make your home a safe haven, find out how healthy your home is and take steps to get rid of toxins.

Radon

You can’t see it, smell it, or taste it, but it may be lurking in your home. Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from rocks, soil, and groundwater under your house and enters your home through cracks. As the second leading cause of lung cancer, radon should be taken seriously. Fortunately, tests are cheap and simple to perform. If radon is detected, take steps to mitigate it as soon as possible.

Tobacco Smoke

If you or others smoke in your home, then your home is harming your health. Exposure to tobacco smoke puts you at risk for numerous health conditions. These include lung cancer, lung disease, respiratory infections, other cancers, stroke, heart disease, and more. Want to prevent this from happening? Never smoke or allow others to smoke in your home.

Lead Paint

Older homes have charm and character, but they may be harboring lead paint. If your home was built before 1978, there’s a good chance that lead is present in the house or the soil around it. Symptoms of lead poisoning include stomachaches, nausea, headaches, fatigue, and irritability. Lead poisoning can lead to learning disabilities, behavioral problems, seizures, and in rare cases, death. A simple blood test can check lead levels. If you live in an older home, have it tested for lead.

Asbestos

Many homes built between 1920 and 1978 used asbestos in building materials and insulation. If the dust of asbestos is ingested or inhaled, the fibers can get trapped in the body permanently. When this happens, expect inflammation, scarring, and even genetic damage. Certain cancers and lung disease are attributed to asbestos exposure. When asbestos is present, have it removed by specially trained contractors.

Chemicals

Your utility closet likely contains bottles filled with dangerous chemicals. Whether for cleaning, yard work, car repairs, or home improvement projects, these chemicals can be harmful to touch. On top of that, their fumes can be harmful to breathe. They may irritate your eyes or throat or cause headaches, organ damage, skin burns, asthma, and even cancer. Keep these products out of the reach of children and use only as directed. When possible, purchase products made with natural ingredients and safe for the environment.

Allergens

Wonder why your nose is running, your eyes are itchy, you have a cough, and you keep getting the hives? You’re probably allergic to something in your home. Mold, dust mites, pet dander, cockroaches, and pollen are big offenders. Clean up mold and prevent its growth by reducing your home’s humidity and repairing water damage. Encase pillows and mattresses to limit exposure to dust mites. Treat for insects, and keep your windows and doors closed during pollen season.

Water Pollution

In many areas of the world, the water supply isn’t safe for consumption. If you have well water, harmful substances may contaminate your water. As a result, you and your family are at risk for gastrointestinal illness, anemia, cancer, and damage to the kidneys, liver, or intestines. Don’t let it affect you. Test your water for bacteria, radon, pesticides, nitrates, and organic chemicals on a yearly basis.
