Hi, I am Juile age 46.  I never like working out, getting all sweaty and I don't like gyms.  But since I became a member of Dare to Be Fit, all that has changed.  I am no longer on blood pressure medication.  I look and feel more energic and trim.  People are comlimenting me all the time on how much I have changed.  I smile a lot more because I feel so good.  Coach discovered the 'gym rat' in me and I am proud to say that I am in the best shape ever at 46 years old.  If you are serious about exercise and healthy choices, then Coach, Ray and Ty will lead you every step of the way.  Dare to Be Fit is like my very own personal training club.

A Fresh, Better Start

Put the past behind you and get a fresh, new start.

Bad habits. Everyone has one or two. What’s yours? Maybe you smoke, spend too much time on screens, are late everywhere you go, or bite your nails. Unhealthy behaviors become habits when you do it so many times it becomes your default. Get in a certain situation, and that habit is just what you do. Sometimes you don’t even think twice about it.

There may be bad habits that you’ve tried to quit. Some you overcame, while others stuck around. Breaking bad habits isn’t always easy, but it can be done. Here are some tips to help bring success.

Set a Goal

You’ve been thinking about breaking a habit for a while now. But for some reason, you keep putting it off and making excuses. Now, you’re ready to make the change. A good first step is to set a goal and make a plan. Grab a pen and paper and write down what habit you want to break and why. Explain what would have to change in your life to break the habit. And note any and all benefits of ending the behavior.

To stay on track, post the paper somewhere in your home or office where you’ll see it frequently.

Identify Triggers

There are likely people, places, emotions, or times of day that trigger your bad habit. In order to break it, you’ll need to identify those triggers.
Want to stop hitting the snooze button every morning? Your trigger may be late nights and too little sleep. Or maybe you want to eat less junk food. Your trigger may be depression or stress.

Once you identify your triggers, you’ll be able to take steps to avoid the trigger or change your reaction.

Start Small or Go Big

When beating old habits, you have to decide whether to take baby steps to slowly change your behavior or quit cold turkey. Many people lack the discipline to make small changes, while others find it’s too hard to do all or nothing. To overcome bad habits, you’ve got to know yourself and do what works for you.

Want to cut back on the amount of soda you drink? Depending on your personality, you should either drink one less soda every week or quit buying it altogether.

Find a Replacement

One of the best tricks for breaking a bad habit is to find a new, healthy habit to replace the old. Otherwise it’s too easy to fall back into your old routine. If you want to stop snacking on candy and sweets, you’ve got to have something that’s convenient and easy to eat in their place. When sugar cravings hit, have gum, nuts, or a piece of fruit on hand to eat instead.

Seek Accountability

Some habits are so ingrained in your life that it takes extra support to move past them. Ask a friend to keep you accountable and cheer you on. Find someone who wants to quit the same habit and work at it together. Tired of skipping your workout? Find a friend to meet you at the gym. Don’t have such a great friend? Yes, you do. It’s your trainer!

Change Your Environment

In some cases, there may be something in your environment that triggers your habit. Maybe you’re tempted to buy an expensive coffee drink every morning on your way to work. Changing your route to work may help deter you. Perhaps you need to drink less alcohol. Skip the bar and find a new place to hang out.
